DIY Teacher Appreciation Gifts

If you have a child in school, you know what heroes our teachers have been during all of the pandemic changes. They’ve constantly pivoted to make learning accessible, often thinking out of the box (like FAR out of the box) to make sure your child has access to their education and we’re endlessly thankful for their love and attention to our kids.

DIY Teacher Gifts 2021

Regardless of whether your child is doing virtual, in-person, or remote learning, the end of the year is coming up, and that usually means teacher gifts!

Typically, we gift our kids teachers with a small gift to show our appreciation for their efforts throughout the year, and this year especially.

DIY Teacher Gifts 2021

As we start thinking about the end of the school year, we wanted to give you an early heads up to start planning your thank-you gifts!

We’ve got three adorable ideas to get you started!

DIY Teacher Seed Package

“Teachers plant seeds that last forever.” How adorable is this little seed package?! And it’s so true!

DIY Teacher Gift - Teachers plant seeds that last forever

We went to our local garden centre and grabbed a cute package of small bulbs and a terracotta pot. You could easily fill the pot or include the soil if you wanted as well!

Our little Muslin Bags are the perfect way to transport any seed packages or loose bulbs you gift to your teacher, and a handmade plant sign is always a cute addition to a house plant.

Teachers love the efforts of their students - so why not get the kids involved? Maybe have your child draw out the kind of plant you’re giving! Or help them paint a cute little plant sign!

Teacher Emergency Stash

Add to your teacher's desk stash of supplies by making them a cute Emergency Stash of goodies to get them through the day! You can include a wide variety of items, either for general classroom use or for your teacher’s personal use!

We took a plastic organizer we felt was small enough to leave in a desk drawer, but big enough to include a variety of supplies. A few of the things we purchased for our teacher stash kit were:

  • Bandaids
  • Disinfecting spray
  • Tide-To-Go stick
  • Spare batteries
  • Deodorant
  • Pain relievers
  • Gum
  • Chocolate (of course!)
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Chap stick
  • Hand cream
  • Handmade Teacher Lanyard (tutorial here)
  • Handmade Zipper pull

All wrapped up with a bow and cute little tag, this is sure to be a winning gift for any teacher!

Personalized Pencil Case & Accessories

Everyone loves personalized items! Your teacher is guaranteed never to misplace this pencil case! Make an adorable customized zipper pull, complete with a pretty tassel to finish it off.

We made a fun little set out of our pencil case and included a facemask lanyard AND a super colorful (and useful) wristlet to match. If you’d like to make a Wristlet, check out our tutorial here for step by step instructions!

Too cute! If you had fabric paint at home you could even add a name to your pencil case - we didn’t… ;) so name tag it was!

Hope you enjoyed looking through some of these teacher gift ideas! Now’s the time to start planning, and hopefully you’ve got some fresh ideas to use on your own gifts!

Teachers are heroes in our books, and a fun thank-you gift is the least we felt we could do after such a crazy year like this past one!

Hats off to all the teachers out there. We’re so thankful for you and the important work that you do!

Hi Vivian!
We’re so glad you enjoyed the blog post!
One of our team members brought the pouch in for photos, so unfortunately we’re not sure where it’s from! Sorry about that!

I love this tutorial! Thank you so much. Just wondering where the pouch is from? I know this is from a few years ago, but it would be nice to find something similar.
