Your workplace accessories have never looked so chic! Jazz up your standard pass card or ID badge reel, and show off a little personality! Form and functionality all in one easy craft!
Silicone beads add a fun pop of color to your work wear accessories! They’re 100% washable which makes sanitizing them easy (for those nurses and doctors!), and they make finding your pass card badge reel at the bottom of your bag that much easier!
It’s easy! Follow along with our YouTube video above or our written tutorial below.
Supplies Needed:
- 1 badge reel
- 3 or more silicone beads of your choice
- Scissors
- Binder clip
- Needle nose pliers (can be purchased as part of our Crafting Tool Set)
Step-By-Step Instructions:
1. Gather your supplies and shop for your favorite beads on our website! Start by extending your retractable badge reel string.
2. Using your binder clip, hold the string in its extended position. This will help you work with your string and not lose it should your badge reel accidentally retract!
3. Take your scissors and cut the string about 1” away from the badge reel stopper. You can also cut this string after you’ve pushed the knot out (see below) - whatever you prefer!
4. If you haven’t already, push the string up through the badge reel stopper so that the knot and string comes out. You may need some needle nose pliers to catch it and pull it out. If you’re struggling to get the knot out, you can also pry open your triangle jump ring going through the badge reel stopper so that it's out of the way as well.
5. With the knot pushed through, set your stopper aside.
6. String on to your badge reel string the beads you prefer in the order you want. Do not remove your binder clip just yet! (And please note that we put our accent bead on upside down - please do not make our mistake!)
7. Take your working end and push it back into the bottom of the badge reel stopper. On the other side of the stopper, tie a double or triple knot.
8. Trim your string close to the knot. Pull the knot back into the stopper to hide it.
9. Unclip your binder clip and you’re done! Ready for use!
